The trouble with software developers in general is that they are not quick to provide that kind of help for users, because it verges on admitting a shortcoming in the product. I think if Google wants to be a real pioneer, they could post a list of all the capabilities and commands that appear in other commonly-used browsers, and clearly state 'you won't find that in Chrome' or, 'here is where to find that in Chrome'. The 'won't find' part might appear to be bad business sense, but Google clearly thinks it is on a special mission; maybe they would be willing to consider it. Do what you want to improve the user experience, and ease the transitions for the user by providing clear and transparent documentation mapping the old set of capabilities they thought they had mastered into new different set that you would like them to get used to in the future.
Yea, I did the same when I tried to use Chrome. I assumed there was a fix somewhere, but the rest of the UI was such crap I gave up on Chrome before I even got around to searching for a solution. It takes two menus to get to them instead of just one. That's just a little bit more extra trouble, but figuring out how to do it is a lot more trouble. All the anomalies of Chrome could easily be avoided by making it 'normal'. Normal, as in, it's 'normal' for a Windows program to have a menu bar at the top. Most of us are flexible enough to make the change, but the question is, 'Why should we?' Is saving a little bit of real estate at the top of the page worth all the hassle? And if so, why not the option to have it or not, as in Firefox?
