Using iExplorer you can find the pages of the magazine, unfortunately stored as separate pdf files but by selecting the relevant pages and opening them in Preview it's easy to smosh them together into one pdf file which is nice and convenient. If anyone from Apple is reading this, I don't really want to resort to this, I'm happy to buy the mag, I just want to be able to read it on a nice big screen.

The only slight alternative for mags I have seen, is those Newsstand mags that offer your content ACROSS platforms. For instance I like a mag called Wax Poetics, and when you buy editions in-app using their Newsstand app, and sign-up for a pocketmags account, it tracks the purchase, so you can also download it on any other platform. Not a bad solution, but I agree that PDF copies are so much more preferable for most consumable text content.
